Why work with Kate?

My driving philosophy is to uncover possibilities for each patient. I approach each session with a deliberate open mind. This positive vision allows me to see openings into the world rather than closed doors. I believe it is possible to reframe old habits, and, with the proper treatment and commitment from each patient, to renew your love for life and to regain a sense of equilibrium.

Many patients come to me to ease chronic pain. Others seek me out to gain more control over their health and lifestyle. My practice combines both traditional acupuncture and life coaching. Over the years I have found that, while I can take away the pain, that pain will simply return without a change in your lifestyle. Moreover, migraines, insomnia, and digestive disorders can be symptomatic of the stress you have put on yourself, or that have been imposed upon you.

There are numerous styles of acupuncture practiced all over the world and in my practice, I incorporate several and use different techniques according to what the patient brings into the office. Among the styles that I use are 5 element, 8 Principle, Dr Tan's balance method, and auricular.

What can I expect on the first visit?

Initial visits last approximately 1.5 hours. I will ask you a series of medical and lifestyle questions including information on your sleep, diet, stress, medications, etc. Next I will conduct a physical exam to determine everything from range of motion to pain thresholds and I will conduct diagnostics by feeling the pulses on both arms and examine your tongue. Lastly, I will do a full acupuncture treatment based on my findings. Think of your first visit as a journey. The ensuing visits will be a discovery and a recovery process.

“From my first appointment with Kate, she has made me feel comfortable; creating an accepting and open environment that fosters trust.”

Payment and Insurance

I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and EHP (Johns Hopkins). Please verify your coverage before your first visit either by calling your insurance company or email or text me a copy (front and back) of your card and I can verify for you.
